What the....hail?

I do know it's been some time since my last post. I mean, it's been so long, Bets has changed her whole page layout and everything since I've been blogless! Needless to say, the summer has not slowed down for us.

But I had to share a rare event that occurred a couple weeks ago. Now, our house is for sale, so I am trying hard to keep it looking in "showing" shape. I try and keep it clean inside, and I've also spent some time manicuring the lawn. Yes, I did use those electric clippers to trim the hedges and almost trimmed right through the extension cord, but that story is for another day. At any rate, I figure the first impression is when the potential buyer pulls up into the driveway and sees the outside of the home. So, I've been content with the summer plantings and blooms and love to look out and see a neat yard.

Then it hit. One afternoon me and the kids were playing inside, and it got really dark. Then really windy, then some rumbles of thunder. Then a few drops of rain. Suddenly those little drops of rain got very LOUD and I realized it was hailing out. Then it appeared to be somewhat of hurricane. I ran in a fury to close every window in the house - too late by the time I got upstairs - things were soaked. Thunder crashing, kids screaming and trying to keep up with me as I race to dry the wet puddles on the window sills. Mayhem. Someone help! Where's the mother?! Oh shoot, I AM the mother. I quickly take the kids to the basement thinking "This is the big one Edith!" The dog was completely panicked and I tried to remain calm as I reviewed in my head where the flashlights and candles were. Do we have canned food? Is my car turning into a dimpled mess? Should I be doing something? Then it was over. As quickly as it started, and the sun came out.

We emerged from the basement - me now carrying both kids and the dog at my heels. We look outside and Alexa announces, "Look mommy, it snowed out!" Well, yes, the massive piles of hail did resemble snow. But I was QUICKLY perturbed by the amount of leaves and debris ALL over the yard. It was a mess. Just more work for me. Booooo!

So, we spent the next few days picking up the wreckage. As I drove down the road, I noticed other houses on the street had a little debris, but ours by far was the worst one hit. And it appeared to just be on our road. No mention of the natural disaster anywhere else. So I think we live in some strange time warp zone. Anyways, we survived.

Nice to have you back Kim. I've been checking lately and thinking, "What do they think they're moving or something and don't have time to blog?!?" ;) Quick Story: One year (can't remember what month) in Cali, it hailed somewhere in LA and seriously the people were on the news saying it was the end of the world. I don't know why but it makes me want to pee my pants when I think of it b/c they were SOO weird about weather there b/c it's ALWAYS sunny. Miss you!
