So I've decided to start a blog. I have had experience enjoying other friend's blogs and found it to be a great way to keep up to date on each other's lives, especially when distance separates us. But where do I start? Due to my organized and sequential nature, I have decided to start with a summary of where our lives have brought us to this point for those who might have missed a detail or two.
Dan and I have been married since 2000. We have 2 amazing children, Alexa, who is currently 3 1/2 and Zachary who is currently 21 months old. Dan is the General Manager for an indoor sports dome here in town. I am a stay at home mom, but do work Per Diem as a psychiatric social worker. Alexa is a bright, happy girl who loves things like makeup, singing, purses, shoes, clothes, and baby dolls. She is especially interested in learning her letters and numbers, and is looking forward to starting preschool in the Fall. Zachary is a happy, BUSY boy who loves tools, trains, sports, and eating. Zachary was born with a Congenital Heart Defect, Transposition of the Great Arteries. He underwent open-heart surgery at 2 days old and has never looked back. He is "fixed" of his condition but still requires yearly checks to manage his heart. To look at him, you'd never know he has been through what he has. If I had known how strong and healthy he would be I never would have shed a tear during those very difficult times.
One year ago this month, we bought our first house and are loving it. When we moved in, Dan's parents moved in with us. His dad had been sick for a while with kidney failure and had developed neck cancer. They were living all alone in PA, and the decision was made to move in with us so we could help with his care. Sadly, his dad passed away suddenly this past October of a stroke, 8 months after they moved in with us. His mom, a.k.a. Gramma, is still here with us, which we gladly accept. She works full time and is trying to keep herself busy through this difficult time. Certainly the kids help keep her very busy, as they think it's an amazing treat to have Gramma to play with all the time!
So as 2008 has begun, we are looking forward to a new start, new adventures, and new fun. The kids are off and running with the new year, and are looking forward to this long winter to end (or maybe that's just mommy's wish). I hope to blog on the happenings of our family, to share with any of you who want to read it! Enjoy!

Kim - You are so cosmo! Wow, your own blog - you've finally arrived, little sister! The only problem is that there is no mention of me. Given that it was your first blog, you probably just weren't thinking...
Pix of the kids are great!!
Yippee! So glad you started this blog....it's already on my favorites;)
Wyborney's - awesome to see what you're up to. Maybe if I can get my act together, I'll do the same. This will be a great way to try to keep in touch. Everyone looks great. Grace and Peace, D.
Kim, I'm so glad you sent me your blog. I don't know how you do it all; you're amazing and the kids are wonderful!
I had to hold my sides laughing while reading about the mice. Cyndi and I had a very similar conversation today at lunch. We both have been comparing mice stories this winter. The first time we ever had mice in the house. But Summer is on it's way. I saw our first ant in the house tonight.
Sure do miss you!
I just surfed in from facebook.
It was so nice to see your family!
